-What makes up a coral reef community? -Why do the world�s largest turtles, sunfish and basking sharks arrive in the UK in summer? -Where is the world�s richest marine life? More and more people are discovering diving. We are bombarded with newer and better equipment, training programmes and gas mixes. Although increasing accessibility and improving safety, the focus seems to be on these aspects and not on what we are down there to look at! This is the gap I aim to fill, introducing divers to the marine world, a low key but comprehensive introduction. | |||||||||||||||||||

The idea is to take several different approaches. Rather than �fish spotting�, the idea is to look at how the whole environment meshes together. This includes concise, palatable doses of oceanography, evolution, climate and nutrient systems. The original idea was a series of evening talks following the days diving, relating it to what we have seen during in water introductions. As I have been working, the ideas have evolved and become more flexible. From two evenings to a week, for anyone from about twelve up who is interested in the marine world, I can pitch the presentations to suit. From November 1999, I will be based on Providenciales, in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a glorious setting from which to explore the marine world. I have several projects in the pipeline, portable, concise guides to marine animals. As yet I have not finalised with a publisher, but watch this space..... - Slates, in colour, scientifically accurate to the same scale and in proportion, guides to Dolphins, Sharks, Giant Fishes and other large marine animals. - Black and White guide, on waterproof paper, to all the world�s genera of sharks and rays, complete yet ultra concise, an illustration for every family. | |||||||||||||||||||
